Biography
Eric Shin joined the Honolulu Symphony as principal percussionist in 2004. He has also performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, Canton Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, among many others. During the summers, he has participated in the Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival USA, Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, and National Orchestral Institute.

As a recipient of The Cloyd Duff Scholarship, Mr. Shin received his Bachelors of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is a student of Richard Weiner, principal percussionist of the Cleveland Orchestra, and Paul Yancich, principal timpanist of the Cleveland Orchestra. Upon graduation, Mr. Shin was awarded the Bruce Collie Award for percussion excellence for his musical achievements at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2003. He went on to pursue a semester of graduate studies at The Julliard School with Gregory Zuber, principal percussionist of the Metropolitan Opera, before being appointed to the Honolulu Symphony.
